Men and women usually spend approximately 40 minutes a day on cleaning.

That’s almost an hour of bending down on your knees and hands to vacuum, scrub baseboards, and clean the entire house. And honestly, no one likes to go through this strenuous exercise regularly.

You would love to spend these 40 minutes doing something you love, such as playing video games, surfing the internet, or watching the TV. It is highly frustrating to watch your house in utter disarray after coming back from work.

But before you decide to stop doing household chores, we are here to provide a few solutions. Given below are some useful tips and tricks on how to clean your house efficiently.

Easily Clean Dirty Shower Heads

Cleaning the shower head is a nightmare for many, especially if soap scum accumulates on it. You always get wet while cleaning it and the result is also not satisfactory.

Try mixing white vinegar and baking soda to clean the shower head. Mix them well and pour the mixture in a plastic bag. Tie this bag using a rubber band to the shower head.

Turn on the hot water tap on and make sure the mixture becomes muddy. Walk away from the shower and let the baking soda and vinegar do all the cleaning.  Learn about more cleaning tips.

Invest in a doormat

Do you know how much dust, dirt, and germs you bring to your home from the outside? You will probably step on a lot of pollutants while walking barefoot in your house.

Investing in a doormat can solve that problem for good. Keep it on your front door and inform everyone to wipe their feet before coming inside.

You can also have a shoe rack or shoe stand right near the front door. This will prevent people from spreading considerable amount of dust and dirt on the hardwood floors and carpets.

Use Dryer Sheets on Baseboards

Baseboards usually invite a lot of dust. You would spend hours on the floor dusting it inch by inch to keep the house neat and tidy.

Instead of spending hours, you should use dryer sheets. Take a dryer sheet and spread it on the baseboard. It will catch all the dust as the dirt gets absorbed on it.

Disinfect Sponges in the Microwave

Most homeowners tend to clean their kitchen counters and stoves with sponges and rinse them with water to use later. That’s gross.

The bacteria and also the food debris can spread throughout the kitchen if you use the same sponge. This will only increase the chances of diseases spreading. But you can stop it by disinfecting the sponge in the microwave.

Switch the microwave to its highest temperature for 90 seconds. That will kill all the bacteria from the sponge in a few seconds and it will smell like a new sponge. However, don’t put any metal scrubbers inside the microwave.

Use lemon and ice to freshen your garbage disposal

The pungent smell from your kitchen usually comes from the accumulated garbage. They may have collected in the garbage disposal unit, clogging the entire system.

Instead of trying too many things, cut a lemon, get some ice cubes and throw them down the garbage disposal. Turn the power and let them clear the garbage and the smell.

The ice cubes help to keep the blades sharp while the lemon produces the fresh smell.
